Arhuaca
The Arhuaca mochila is a traditional cross-body bag woven by the Arhuaco indigenous people of Colombia. Symbolizing their connection to nature and existence, these bags are crafted by women known as Wati. Made from natural fibers like cotton, wool, agave, or fique plant threads, the mochilas are woven in earthy tones ranging from brown and beige to black and gray. Originally using fibers from the Arahuaco lands, the Spanish later introduced sheep's wool, and today, industrial fibers are also used. Each mochila represents the Arhuaco heritage and the skilled artistry of its makers.
